1st Avenue and University - Proposed Improvements Rendering

Cherry Creek North is getting a Makeover… the Cherry Creek North (CCN) Business Improvement District has started work on a major streetscape renovation. This is the first comprehensive upgrade to CCN in over 20 years and it will enhance the environment for shoppers, residents and merchants alike. The renovations include new pedestrian lighting, additional signage, intersection improvements, landscaping, and street furniture. These upgrades will be made throughout the sixteen block area of CCN.

While these renovations are underway, CCN will be open for business as usual! You will have plenty of access to all of your favorite retail shops and businesses in the neighborhood throughout the duration of the project. All of the work will be done in phases from east to west, with only a few blocks affected at any given time. Work has started on the east side of Steele Street and St Paul Streets, between 1st and 3rd Avenues, and work is scheduled to be wrapped up in November 2010, just in time for the busy holiday shopping season.

During weekday hours, some of the parking spaces directly adjacent to the work zones will be blocked off. These minimal closures will be temporary and they’ll be limited to just one side of the street at any time. For more detailed information about parking options in CCN, click here.

In addition to the improvements that the CCNBID is conducting, the City and County of Denver will be including CCN in their new “Smart Meter” replacement program across the City. Installation is estimated to begin on the east side of the District as work is completed on each street. The first Smart Meters will go in on Steele Street in June. While the streetscape improvements are underway, there will be a mixture of Smart Meters and parking kiosks throughout the District. We anticipate that all Smart Meters will be installed by holiday 2010.
