CONSTRUCTION

CURRENT HAPPENINGS

Construction activities continue on Steele, St. Paul, Milwaukee, Fillmore, Detroit, and Clayton Streets, as well as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Avenue between Steele and Clayton. These include:
  • Exploratory digging to identify existing utility locations for safe installation of new improvements
  • Removal of existing elements to accommodate foundations and infrastructure for newly proposed features such as directories, banner poles, art and garden places, benches, bike racks, recycling cans and other new improvements
  • Removal of existing surface treatments to allow access for installation of new and upgraded in ground electrical and irrigation infrastructure
  • Grading and excavation for installation of new turf, planters, stairs, pavers, splash blocks, and paver walkway installation
  • Excavation and grading work in the intersection planters for the installation of a new front planter wall within the planter. Preparatory work on the existing and new planter walls for a new surface finish.
  • Removal of existing intersection corners to accommodate earthwork preparation and infrastructure installation at intersection corners. This preliminary work will accommodate the Installation of enhanced intersection corner concrete and brick surfaces as well as upgraded signage and seating.
  • Installation of new energy efficient lighting, banners, signage and wayfinding, enhanced pedestrian paving, enhanced landscaping, and new site furniture.

SIDEWALK SALE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE AS OF JULY, 20, 2010

A schedule for areas that may be in the process of construction during the July 22-25 sidewalk sale is shown below. Actual work activities will be on hold during this period of time. The highlighted areas are locations for which construction may be in progress but not yet completed prior to the beginning of the sidewalk sale.
